Monthly Groove & Afrobeat Jam Session
Every first Friday of the month, Friction hosts an open jam session at Cable Factory's Kahvibaari in Helsinki. We start with a short set, then open the stage for all players to join. Entry is free, happy hour prices at the bar.

- Music: Afrobeat, cumbia, Latin, jazz, funk, blues — world music broadly
- Backline: Percussion, piano, PA, microphones, two guitar amps and a bass amp are available
- Skill level: All levels welcome
How it works
Friction opens with a few songs to set the tone and closes the evening. Everything in between is pretty free-form — depending on who shows up, we might free-jam, play covers, run through some of our own repertoire with guest players, or jam on something a player has brought in. The genre stays broadly within the groove/world music space but there's room to stretch.
Chord sheets are available if we're playing from our own repertoire. For free jams and covers there are no sheets — feel free to bring your own if you have something specific in mind. No prior preparation needed otherwise; just show up with your instrument. Friends welcome too.
Not playing? Grab a drink, pull up a chair. Listeners are equally welcome.
